Driving felt like playing Quake on dialup while downloading.
Last week I rented a U-Haul pickup and the accelerator pedal to throttle response had ~1s latency. Is this normal for new cars? Uhg.

At least no fiend jumped on you at 2 fps!
-
At least the brakes didn't have the same latency. But "drive by wire" is shit.
-
I very much hope there are regulations enforcing low latency for brakes, even in a safety-unconscious country such as the USA.
-
Yeah but systemd is going to crash still & bring down the brake handling process...
-
I *want* the industry to freak out over systemd at some point. I'll be ready when it happens. I just hope the human cost won't be too high.

I've experienced that with diesel cars due to the turbo lag
-
Pretty sure it was gas, though I drove it such a short distance I didn't have to fill & check.
-
Doesn't have to be diesel to have turbo https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_EcoBoost_engine … . Although now I'm curious if the lag might be due to "software"
-
It was a big GMC, don't know exact model.
