Uhg, Android scene is even shittier than before. All the sites look like 90s-era console game emu+warez sites.

Oneplus X looks nice and like there are stripped-down distros with root that support it. Anyone used it?
-
It's an awesome little phone actually. Running LineageOS on mine and very happy. Only bother is the camera, which is slightly subpar.
-
Hmm, apparently they don't want to sell any; the buy now page is all broken...
-
I think unfortunately they're out, they're like two years old. But look for used ones on eBay if you're really interested

-
Totally not interested in used. Phones are made for 1-3 year single user lifetime. Don't hold up to wear. :(

BLU R1 looks like an incredible deal because it's subsidized by a little extra malware in the default install you're going to wipe anyway...
-
...but I can't find if there are working open source builds to replace it with when wiping.

There's also a malware-subsidized Prime version of Moto G4 Play, but reportedly Amazon has a deal with Moto to break bootloader unlocking..?
-
Looks like it's low-res LCD anyway, which is a dealbreaker. 1920x1080 is minimum acceptable to me.
-
FWIW: 1920 x 1080 is my main desktop monitor resolution... IIRC my dad is using a 1440 x 900 monitor (likewise my laptop uses this).

So far, decent looking options are Moto 4G (plain, not Play or Plus) and LeEco Le Pro 3. Any suggestions on which to prefer?

A Leeco LeMax 2 - 6GB ram, 64GB storage $250 USD from http://banggood.com , http://gearbest.com or another chinese reseller
-
What options for non-crap-infested distro are there?
-
And how do you reliably get a non-refurb device? My experience with online resellers of (good!) Chinese phones is they dumb the refurb crap.
-
They won't be refurb. For distros I use http://www.resurrectionremix.com , I would prefer
@copperheadOS if it worked on some cheap phones. -
I like the idea of
@CopperheadOS but I don't want to run it. I want root, don't care about boot locking until it gets in the way.
