Yeah, I do @musllibc, FOSS & infosec stuff. But now is not the time for a mostly-/only-tech Twitter feed.

Oh look, yet another example of Google's featured snippets elevating debunked pseudoscience to appear authoritativepic.twitter.com/dWhaC7I8Zu
How hard would it be for Google to have a few expert employees maintain lists of quackery, fraud, neonazi, etc. sites to exclude from these?
very hard, each week there are a new pseudo science that must be debunked
But the only sites with high enough pagerank to get featured are quite few, and easily tracked by relationships with other quackery sites.
It's not like they need to check EVERYTHING, just the results of the tracking, to make sure the one result doesn't say SCALD YOUR GENITALS.
Featured snippets should already have to meet some sort of "noteworthy" requirement anyway.
ok "Scald your genitals" is nos checked, now we need one to "Eat X is healty" where X is ANY thing that sound remotely exotic.
and now we need one more person to "apply X to cure Y"
wait, if you "HEAR X , you can be better at Y "
Snnipets eres not a signal to be TRUE , only to be relevant, we need better understant of what are we watching
That's just a UX failure. They're presented to the user in a way that makes them look authoritative/true.
