.@mikamckinnon What's most admirable attempt you've seen by other shows you've seen trying to be true to reality, something that stuck out?

I.e there is fundamentally no such thing as, and there never can be, a "galactic empire".
-
I'm cool with no galactic empires, but the thought of no interstellar civs is a very sad one to me
-
The lack of FTL would mean only stupendously powerful galactic physical disaster could easily wipe out multi-solar human life. Not too bad.
-
Of course that assumes human time perception, priorities, and desire for centralized warfare
-
Yeah if every outgoing mission is independant that just means tons of future planets to war with each other, lol
-
War over what? Interstellar warfare of the hardest things for me to plausibly justify: no resource is worth the cost of invasion.
-
My first reaction was ideological differences, but you're probably right that war wouldn't be practical
-
By the time your weapon arrived, the ideology of the civilization you're attacking might be radically different from your last observation..
