I like static linking! And dynamic linking! They're more of orthogonal things than two ends of a spectrum, IMO
"Requires gross violations of reasonable isolation/responsibility factoring" is a pretty severe contraindication for a design.

AFAICT, this is basically how it works in Windows; seems to work. can still do COW & ASLR, albeit ASLR limited to per-boot...

there are pros/cons, but it is basically "tried and true" tech. though, eliminating some of the hair and cruft vs PE/COFF would be nice.
