Try reading man pages.. I have heard that helps. Just the same procedure as when you want to understand non-systemd software

well yes ofc but my point is i don't have to do that w/ sysvinit. a personal dislike, not a legit criticism of systemd

Is "rm /." different from "rm ."?

Erm, let's assume I meant "rm /path/to/cwd/." in the first one.

That’s a good question. I’ll have to build a VM and try it out. Makes sense for . and .. to always be special cases for rm, though.

I can’t think of a time I have ever wanted to remove either, especially since removing .. would remove *its* .. and so on.
