Personally, I am opposed to secure boot. Let people boot what they want but provide means of verifying themselves.

a lot of things are theoretically possible :-) But if I'd want to make hard to mess up signature keys I wouldn't start with x509

I'm thinking something like DFA, rejecting or ignoring if possible unexpected recursive structure.

(You can even parse "html with at most n levels of tag nesting" with regex if you really want... ;-)
