Health insurance is useful as an employee benefit because health insurance for individuals is a market for lemons.
-
That was true pre-ACA but didn't change the awful side effect of locking you to an employer.
-
As someone who just started buying in the marketplace for his family, I can attest that it's still not awesome and wildly expensive.
-
Yes, it's imperfect (still waiting for single-payer) but it's not a problem that can't be solved by getting paid enough.
-
$6k max OOP (much less $3k or so with silver or gold) is not a big deal with what employers in our industry ought to be paying...
-
...but if predictable expenses really matter, supplemental coverage is also an option.

I agree on the health insurance but I wouldn't mind a daycare at my office. My baby is 11 weeks and I'm about to go back to work.
-
Yeah, seems there are pros and cons. Independent daycare in same building/same block might be a good compromise.

Both childcare and healthcare much less of a concern in Canada. HCSA is nice perk of some employers.

One benefit of daycare at the office is more time with your kids. My kids school is next to our house. Impossible to spend lunch with baby.
