Why can't we get synthetic sapphire eyeglasses? Abbe number 72.2 (!!!!) and high index of refraction.

Yes. You know the blue-circled red "open" signs? Viewed through side of lens, the word "open" is outside the circle.

Similar with multi-color tile mosaics. Tiles "shift" by color with turn of head, really messed up depth perception.

Definitely sounds like a case of thick, badly manufactured glasses. Make sure they didn't sell you triangular prisms by accident

Thick & cheap are generally much higher optical quality. Expensive trades optical quality for fashion.
