This article looks like propaganda to promote Restricted Mode. Have kids, never encountered such vids via related, etc.

I've seen stuff like this but only once or twice. It's probably being overplayed in the article

Way more likely IME is just your kid following the "watch next" links and winding up on totally inappropriate videos.

at google scale a couple anecdotes could be really bad, if it's a video with a high view count :/
