The glibc year 2038 migration plan is pretty bad https://sourceware.org/glibc/wiki/Y2038ProofnessDesign?rev=115 … would not recommend 32 bit Linux for embedded apps. BSDs are fine.

I think it's limited to i386. I believe arm and MIPS have 64bit time_t. jhb has posted about solu.

No, they're as bad or worse. mips even has 32-bit time_t on their ILP32-on-64 ABI (n32).
