Google is currently forcing me to use 2FA to login without my consent. NOT happy.
Apparently now 2FA is mandatory if you're logging in from a "new device". Grrrr. Can't find a way to disable.

is it totp or sms?
-
They have a bunch of options. SMS, voice call, Android phone's logged-in Google acct, etc.
-
But if my phone had burned up too (or been stolen, or...) I'd have no way to login (and thus no way to force-logout the phone).
-
Assuming you don't go typing your pw in stupid places, 2FA is a serious liability. Prevents login to lock out a compromised device.

Er, that's always been the case if you have 2FA on?
-
That's the whole point - I DON'T have it on, and don't want it. But I was forced to confirm login with phone anyway.
-
Hmm, google (and MS) will do an extra check if they detect a login/access from somewhere "unusual"
-
"Unusual" is exactly when you NEED to be able to login without 2FA.
