      it's dated, and data-free. 1.8 is in beta, current GC has pause-time goal of 100 usec, usually attained.

          Not comparing with other GCs. Rather found it telling that "only" 100us stall is considered impressive for GC.

          In my mental model, 100us is ~ fork+exec time.

          Also I assume 100us is on high-end x86 and ARM, and might be tens or hundreds of ms on lower-end...
