Assuming you use locks or hl atomic primitives & the atomic insns are flanked by barriers, you'll never notice

having to actually remember to put load-load barriers where they are needed is annoying, though.

But you only do it once when writing the higher-level atomic primitives (e.g. as part of your compiler).
