Does anyone see value in running the Linux kernel on a RISC-V processor without an MMU?
Versus what? Running nommu Linux on a different uc? Running some other OS, or no OS, on nommu RISC-V?

I think a counter argument is that any design hoping to run Linux should invest the die area in an mmu
-
so versus forcing people who want Linux on risc-v to use a core with an mmu
-
Which one? All the ones actually manufactured so far, AFAICT, are nommu.

I think one major value would be improving the quality of nommu Linux by making it possible to run/test on something accessible.
-
that is actually one of the more compelling arguments I think

Indeed. "Test platform for hacking on nommu Linux with real ASIC SoC" = awesome new development vitality.
