... what is the target market? The average consumer? Seems like just a toy. I need a secure _house_ :-)
Anyone have thoughts on whether this is security theater or done right?https://twitter.com/DesignSHIFT2010/status/772630390553120768 …

I was hoping to evaluate flaws or lack thereof in claims indep. of asking whose threat model it meets, but of course that's hard.
-
My family threat model is: home breakin, theft, identity theft. So: password database, and encryption.
-
For many people, raid by LE and subsequent loss of all privacy, use of any data to trump up charges, is part of threat model.
-
It's not that they're specifically targets, but once LE has ALL your private data they can find SOME crime to charge you with.
-
Didn't I already cover this under "home breakin" and "theft"? ;-) Encryption is the key! Ba-dump-ching.

Anti-tampering features like this sound like a really good way to lose all of the valuable data that you're trying to protect.
-
Absolutely. But for some threat models, loss of data is no big deal compared to attacker obtaining it.
-
It does look very neat. Just sceptical about how broadly applicable it is and the difficulty of bypassing anti-tamper features.
