Following @CopperheadOS makes me more and more cynical about Android having any role as the future of user-facing FOSS.
Windows is not FOSS. The context you're missing is how the recent fails are failure as FOSS, inability to build from source.

There was like a 10 year period nobody could build openoffice from source, but it didn't fork until Sun was acquired.

Nobody considered it viable FOSS either. It was a joke project. It's not that Android can't be powerful market force...

...rather it's that Android cannot fill the empty space that is "mainstream user-facing FOSS" because it's not really FOSS.
