It seems odd to me how much ppl care about the .@ vs @ thing, I guess since I came to twitter after they had actual reply-threading.

For me it's not a privacy but a noise reason. Seeing conversations between ppl I follow it's fine. Seeing all exchanges => noise

Yeah, I've never @'d someone in a non-reply except by mistake when I meant to .@ -- it always struck me as a bug not a feature.

Do other people actually use @ in non-replies intentionally to a degree that it would be noticeable noise?
