@copperheadsec Hey, can I block ads in copperheadOS? (via hosts file change?)
@CopperheadSec @kyhwana Can you iptables-capture outgoing dns traffic locally?

@RichFelker@kyhwana Android's VPN support allows VPN apps to route all traffic through themselves. They can handle it entirely locally. -
@RichFelker@kyhwana There are VPN-based ad-blocking apps already, along with more traditional users like Orbot (Tor) and OpenVPN apps. -
@RichFelker@kyhwana We do want to add a nice built-in firewall UX, but there are actually non-root firewalls based on the VPN feature too. -
@RichFelker@kyhwana Problem with the VPN feature is the inability to enable more than one. So apps need to be all-inclusive feature-wise. -
@CopperheadSec@kyhwana Isn't it also mutually exclusive with having a real VPN? -
@RichFelker@kyhwana Yeah, at least without a standardized way of having ones that are able to be chained (in AOSP or at a community level). -
@RichFelker@kyhwana Makes more sense to provide a very capable built-in firewall UX than trying to standardize APIs for these apps though.
