@RichFelker @Kryptoblog It's....complicated :/ We all want to fix it The port has been ready for many years now. Take this as a lesson kids

@OlofKindgren@Kryptoblog I just meant this as an example of how disastrous it is to work on GCC without a plan for assignments. -
@OlofKindgren@Kryptoblog The best thing GCC could do to stay competitive with LLVM would be dropping the requirement to assign copyright. -
@OlofKindgren@Kryptoblog There's so much good GCC work stuck in limbo or abandoned because of the headaches of upstreaming it.

@RichFelker@FossiFoundation yep, there's an issue with copyright assignment for some important parts. Maybe it's better to go with@risc_v -
@robtaylor78@FossiFoundation@risc_v Well I assume the or1k people would like to keep their arch around and relevant. :-) -
@robtaylor78@FossiFoundation But yes@risc_v is a *MUCH* better ISA, competitive with ARM for code quality/density. or1k is like mips... -
@RichFelker@FossiFoundation@risc_v maybe@OlofKindgren@wallento can speak to this better than I

@RichFelker or just go with clang-llvm. -
@Kryptoblog Does it compile Linux yet? -
@RichFelker@Kryptoblog that's a political question, it probably never will, and neither will glibc -
@pitwuu@Kryptoblog It's a practical question because, if not, "go with clang" is a non-answer to lack of upstream or1k in gcc. -
@RichFelker@Kryptoblog like always it's just GPL folks don't want to play nice with BSD projects, because they consider it proprietary code -
@pitwuu@RichFelker Your freedom is not like my freedom thus not freedom. Sigh.

@RichFelker Sadly GCC lacks FreeBSD/mips support upstream for the same reason.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
