Hands up everybody still wondering why Linux on the Desktop never happened? http://shallowsky.com/blog/linux/setting-mouse-speed.html …
@necrophcodr @landley Desktop envs are awful, and the ones I've used did not have usable mouse _speed_ settings anyway (only accel).

@RichFelker@landley it should be doable in mate and/or xfce, although I can't currently confirm. DEs work for most people though. -
@necrophcodr@landley xfce is the closest thing there is to a usable DE, but it's still painful and bloated. -
@RichFelker@landley i think most people feel fine with KDE or mate or cinnamon though. Manual configuration means manual labour. -
@necrophcodr@landley DE vs manual configuration is a false dichotomy. I don't want manual labor. Just don't want to be forced to run crap.. -
@necrophcodr@landley ...in order to get basic functionality that should be documented and accessible without layer upon layer of crap. -
@RichFelker@landley that wasn't really the point, although I agree. I've used dwm for a while, but awesome now, and I rarely use anything.. -
@RichFelker@landley but the terminal, however for the laymen, that often doesn't work, coming from osx or Windows user interfaces -
@necrophcodr@landley I would be perfectly fine with GUI config tools if they didn't mandate I run a whole use less DE to use them... - 2 more replies
