@spun_off But as of recent git commits to master, Emacs can usually use arbitrary host malloc via "hybrid malloc" in the dumper phase.

@spun_off The dumper still sucks for other reasons though; it precludes PIE & other models (eg FDPIC on NOMMU) that are relocated at runtime

@spun_off The right solution is to repurpose the GC lisp-heap-walking code to portably dump lisp objects with proper relocation annotations.
