@jonmasters In any case they fit more useful stuff into the 32-bit ISA than most other RISC ISAs do.
@jonmasters Seems pretty reasonable to me. The encoding "wastes" 2 bits for the 32-bit ISA but only wastes 1 bit of 16-bit instructions.

@jonmasters I am concerned about whether RISC-V can succeed in the real world, but move over toolchain, production, etc. than ISA concerns.
