Interesting bit of GNU history: ftp://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/binutils/ has versions 2.15 thru 2.21.1 which are just symlinks to 2.15a etc.

The FSF actually rm'd historic versions they licensed under GPLv2 and replaced them by slightly-modified, GPLv3-only versions.
