One of the cool new features in @musllibc 1.1.7 is the ability to use alternate user/group backends via the nscd protocol.
On glibc systems already using NIS/LDAP/whatever users/groups via nss and running nscd, dropping in musl binaries should "just work".

Soon there should also be light dedicated user/group backends speaking nscd proto for musl-native systems, and maybe one using nss mods.
-
All this should make
@musllibc more practical in large corporate/university networks where /etc/passwd doesn't make sense.
