Having spent a lot of time over the past several years thinking about and studying ethics in technology, the more I am convinced that the discussions about ethics in technology have a major, irreconcilable blind spot.
Imagine if votes were weighted proportional to a model of how likely political outcomes could completely destroy your life.

By the way, just abolishing the electoral college and the senate would achieve a lot more than your 1.3x weighting.
-
That's as unrealistic as weighting votes for targeted groups though. The system as it stands produces illegitimate outcomes. Least costly way to go forward is DC, Puerto Rico statehood and maybe break California up into smaller states.
-
Stopping gerrymandering would get more than a 1.3x weight boost in the house, too.

Circling back to Amazon, if Amazon's values are to hire more women & PoC why don't they bias their system to that? The recent Apollo breach showed how much rich data there is on public. Match the resumes to ad tech dB like that and select for targeted groups. Until debt is paid.
