      OS X 10.11.6, http://Calculator.app  cosh(800) = Infinity cosh(710.5) = Infinity (so far so good) cosh(710.4) = NaN (!) cosh(700) = NaN (!!) cosh(350) = NaN (!!) cosh(300) = 9.712…E129 Did… did an intern write this?

If the intern wrote it it would work. http://Calculator.app  numerics is ... well, it’s kinda like Excel numerics, but worse in some ways and better in others.

I have had some conversations with them in the past, and made some small progress. Bug reports from outside would help if you can spare the time.

whoa, whoa, whoa! “I implemented the arithmetic evaluation engine for the default Android Calculator. It avoids cumulative errors, and provides arbitrarily scrollable, always accurate, results.” https://www.hboehm.info  Now I need an Android phone.

Clearly you should be buying the 512GB XS Max instead. $800 for a calculator… 🤷‍♂️

I could settle for a reasonable floating-point system that allows to represent this number, yes. I do not really need “arbitrary precision”.
