Normal mind: Silicon Valley startup Galaxy mind: Silicon Valley startup with remote work for 10x rockstar employees living in New York Cosmic mind: Get office space 30min outside a Midwest city core and poach programming talent costing less than a Bay Area tier1 helpdesk rep

Good luck getting funding though without being able to go to all those meetings on Sand Hill Road, that's the Problem and the reason nobody does this

Yeah I followed one of those investors on SnapChat and they laid out why the commute for VCs kills this model, usually. Notably, one VC tried to boot up Las Vegas, but it was still too annoying I guess.

VC ruins everything anyway. You want none if you can avoid it, otherwise as little as possible.

Now that I won't disagree on, but the reality is that whether you can bootstrap depends highly on your business - if you're a hardware startup, you have to take some kind of initial capital bet

You could do crowdfunding. Reason it fails so often is not bad model but fools who think it's their idea that's worth something rather than knowledge & experience in design & manufacturing.

Presumably crowdfunding would only work for consumer-facing products.

Yes, but then, there are a number of companies happy to provide capital if you provide some solution they can immediately make use of. I've worked with HW Startups that have successfully raised sufficient money to get started this way.

Admittedly, Germany is a very different market sometimes, but let's put it this way: I've heard this/have worked with companies working with: - Pharma Cos from US, Japan, Germany, Switzerland - MedTechs - Hospital chains - Educational providers - Car manufacturers & supply

          - TelCos - Public Transport - Logistics ... So, basically: many sectors, if you know what you are looking so.
