I used that opening in a creative writing class as an example of how the language changes - at the time, it indicated a dismal, rainy day; now, a cloudless blue sky. Perfect description, either way.

The blue sky is now forgotten. When I asked a bunch of 20somethings about what a dead channel on a TV would look like, they all thought for a bit and then said Black.
