There are a lot of fairly major but more specialized targets like AVR that are still much better supported by gcc than llvm too

BTW - SiFive has completely blob free firmware for their Freedom Unleashed Linux board, including the DDR4 DRAM controller programming. I wonder how much memory it needs to do that.
