Is there a cheap & cheap to maintain (no ink that costs a printer per month) printer with built-in network (IPP) that actually works? HP firmware is crap, randomly drops off network & goes nonresponsive even when on.
I need it to just work out of box with standard protocols on Linux, Windows, Android (Android CUPS Print), and iOS.

Linux: check Windows: check Android: never tried to print from there IOS: never used it and will never have a device running this.

For Linux, does it work from Firefox without installing any local cups daemon mess or stateful "add printer", just with the default auto discovery?
-
Nope. Used cups to print to it via port 9100 and using ljet4 style driver.
