Is OAuth exposing access to email contents? Does Android have a backdoor to let apps read email? Or is Google just not enforcing policy about 3rd party email apps that already have access to your mail not abusing it?

^^ This x 100. The headline's implying that average-joe-app-developer has the ability to read emails of anyone who installs his app. Google's app-permission model is intentionally structured to prevent exactly this. I doubt that's what is really happening.
