@RichFelker https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=23680 … Have you ever seen this come up before? I think I've just never had a situation with that many users in groups, and admins tend to try keep group lengths low to avoid O(n) behaviour in some applications.

Perhaps this is only an issue because glibc has huge NGROUPS_MAX? Linux seems to only support a much smaller number, so making huge groups does not make sense. O(n) is O(1) when n is reasonably bounded. Sounds like a HURD-philosophy-consequence bug here...
