Random thought... any service with bonus/reward points (credit cards, banks, airlines etc.) should offer extra points to users who proactively increase their security posture. For example: "Enable two-factor for an additional 2,000 Delta miles".

Not all two-factor is based on SMS. Some fall back through e-mail. Some are clever and provide notifications on multiple devices. There's a variety of solutions in the field and undeniable value to two-factor. Look at the rapid growth of
@duosec and general widespread adoption.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

It’s actually likely to be a significant cost savings for the company. Fraud claims can be time consuming to investigate, may turn into lawsuits, and may not result in recovery of funds. 2FA is likely to significantly reduce, but not eliminate, amount of fraud.
-
Absolutely. It's a cost savings to the company at the expense of the customer.

This is absurd. Zero benefit? Seriously? Have you ever had to help a non-tech savvy user recover from an account compromise, especially one involving a bank account in which money gets stolen? Plenty of time wasted recovering from it and unnecessary stress added.
-
Some users will benefit. Others most certainly will not. Even if they would, whether the reduced risk of account compromise is worth the increased risk of not being able to login when you need to is specific to each person.
