Can _Generic determine if an expression is an lvalue?
I was thinking of more roundabout, unintended ways, but I don't see any way to construct one.

I really don't think there is. I'd know how to test for ICE, but not if anything is an object or so. Any evaluation context has you loose such properties as soon as you try to observe it.

yes, but these cute uses are about or use type. As said, the only use that goes beyond that (I know of) is testing ice, which uses an obscure property of the ternary operator and null pointer constants.
