(some opinions on https://twitter.com/lizthegrey/status/1036985492972220417 … would be appreciated, especially around things beyond the symbols/gestures e.g. references to "IQ", "neuroticism" -- how can we train allies to say "nopenope that's a whistle" rather than "that seems non-objectionable, what's big deal?")

The key is to understand the context of its usage, and to make clear the reasons *why* a thing is a problem while discussing it, without reverting to basic declarations.

It seems important to make well-intentioned people aware that they've been duped into repeating a whistle in a way that doesn't setup an adversarial position towards them.
