I'm really curious in which direction this should go, it feels to me "URLs are probably a bad solution, but the least bad of them all". I can't really see what improvements there are, maybe except for "highlight the actual domain better".

if I wouldn't know that this is incredibly unlikely given the Chrome team's opinions on the topic, the article almost reads like the outcome is "something like EV".
