I know a lot of you are expressing solidarity with Reality Winner, but (unpopular opinion) she did, in fact, risk her freedom by leaking classified information. The content and reasons are irrelevant. Did Intercept drop the ball? Yes, but it doesn't negate that she broke the law.

Judges and prosecutors let awful people off all the time when there's proof they did awful things that the text of the law clearly makes illegal and permits harsh sentences for. It's only when someone gets convicted for doing something good that it's "hey, [s]he broke the law".

Fair point but application of the law is a different issue. I’ve expressed the same thoughts on both Snowden & Manning. I’ve also expressed frustrations with CFAA. I’m just pointing out that there was always the possibility of capture & sentencing.

You aren't "just pointing it out" - you pointed it out specifically in contradiction to those expressing solidarity. This is more than saying "She knew the risks" it is saying "she knew the risks so you should not express solidarity".
