That's an interesting side effect. This is somewhat by design though. Yget is doing something YouTube isn't wanting you to do.

Right. This whole feature (token binding) strikes me as serving to make it harder to do stuff publishers don't want you to. I.e. it's another case of acting as publisher-agent not user-agent.

That's a bit of a stretch. The app in question is behaving exactly like malware in this instance. It's not, but it looks like it. The app could easily make a few modifications and work as intended with token binding.
