this is your chance, infose twitter. Over the years i've seen A TON of people using very strong language to describe their ideal infosec community. Now it's time for you to do what you keep saying that you will do.

One of our own (
@_MG_) has been ripped off. I want every single one of you who has decried plagiarism, abuse, theft - all the things that create angry twitter threads - to pay attetention to this. because this is how you will be measured.3 replies 19 retweets 50 likesShow this thread -

@_MG_ got ripped off. By others in the infosec community. I better see every single one of you who make noise about this type of thing make a bunch of noise now. because if you don't, you'll simply be ignored forever. choose.10 replies 43 retweets 88 likesShow this thread -
The article seems to credit him with having the idea and creating the first working proof-of-concept. What's the problem here?

Yes I'm unsure of the problem as well, the product looks useful and this is a very old idea I've seen countless times.

really? you've seen these cables before mg made them? I'd love to see any links/articles/blogposts/evidence.

USB HID injection via a USB charger? That's a very old concept, as I said I don't understand the issue here. MG is credited for his work, someone else building a product for sale is exactly Hak5's business model (with extra adverts). How is this different to teensy ripoff?

the issue is that he was blatantly ripped off. the fact this isn't obvious presents an even larger problem.

There's plagiarism and there's replication. Plagiarism is bad, replication is good. If you aren't OK with your published work being replicated, you aren't a good researcher.

Nobody's getting a PhD for replicating somebody else's results here.
