Yeah, I do @musllibc, FOSS & infosec stuff. But now is not the time for a mostly-/only-tech Twitter feed.

John Scalzi added,
Some of the pushback is a little more nuanced. When she was at VICE, she violated written agreements with an articles subject that put the subject's life, freedom, and livelihood in jeapordy. Negative responses based on that behavior are totally appropriate.
Just so there is no confusion - I'm in full agreement that attacks based on race or national origin are completely unacceptable.
No she didn’t. She was not involved directly in that story, and had left Vice long before it happened. She did however defend her former colleagues for what they did, and dismissed the source’s concerns based on a ludicrous premise. But misstating her role does no one any good.
It shouldn't be misstated but also shouldn't be understated. Until she spoke up defending her former colleagues, lots of ppl in tech, tech media, hacker, etc. circles were speaking up over what they did to Naomi. Afterwards, near silence from everybody.
Correct. I don't like what she is enduring at the moment, but it is remarkably similar to what she dismissed when it was happening to someone else. Except Sarah chose to write those tweets, while Naomi did everything right. Hopefully she recognizes that when the dust settles.
But I won't hold my breath for any apologies...
I'd really like to see her apologize (even if Naomi isn't interested in accepting it now, which seems reasonable) and work to get her former colleagues not to do shit like this again in the future, rather than seeing alt-reich mobs tearing her down for all the wrong reasons...
