3d printing has gotten off to an awesome start where all the interesting players are fully-FOSS firmware and the filaments are largely device-independent. SO much better than the hellscape of 2d printing with DRM cartridges and malicious firmware embedding watermarks.

We cannot allow this to be destroyed and the 2d printing hellscape to be replicated because somebody thought it could prevent malicious people from printing guns. And anyone who thinks guns are anywhere near the scariest thing you can 3d-print has zero imagination.
