When did PC games decide fixed-pixel-size text is suitable for arbitrary display resolutions? Seen some screenshots lately and it's gotten awful.

They've always been awful. Display sizes changing makes the awful manifest sometime later.

the fun part is where they overshoot, and your display is too small. That's relatively new, used to be entirely the other direction
