I've learned in the last few months that the majority of disagreements I've had about the merits of new technical developments in the cryptocurrency space don't stem from different technical understandings but from different value judgements on the importance of decentralization.

This was actually a pretty big shift in perspective for me as I kind of assumed that decentralization was a given value judgement in this space (outside of closed systems), and had approached many conversations with that model in my head.

When I started to understand that many of the systems being proposed/implemented were starting from a model of "decentralization is undesirable/optional/not essential" lot's of conversations started to make much more sense.

I mean, my personal opinion on this is that if your cryptocurrency doesn't have effective decentralization then it may as well be a mysql database.
