Like seriously, what kind of thought process would lead you to "let remote site inject code" as the solution to "how do I read data from remote site?"

There was simply no other option until CORS came along (well, except for server-side proxying). Again, think in terms of one organisation with multiple domains, not running untrusted 3rd-party code because I would agree with your criticism of the later eghttps://cdnjs.com/

I run a service that supports JSONP. There are still a few people that will use it. The site that uses the most is an online shop, which is always amusing to see in logs...
