It sounds like chat platforms could maintain & ship a list of "signatures" for dangerous trending hoaxes/misinformation with links to real source & match it client-side without compromising e2e.

Not sure how they’d scrub content for that and still maintain e2e. The latter should prevent the possibility of the former which is usually the point.
