This is really ignorant advice. In reality it does near nothing to block nazi/misogynist/etc. trash, but blocks access to all sorts of good information that's critical for kids who may be gay, trans, etc. (or have friends who might be) to have access to.

The closest thing to a real solution I know of would be uninstalling the YT app, using browser only, and getting a browser extension that lets you block specific channels...

Option 3 talk to your kids about hate as early as possible so they know how busted those ideas are regardless of medium.

By the time they’re going to the bathroom alone unless you live in a utopia they’ll see hateful graffiti for example. No technical blocklist solution for bad/evil ideas out in the world.

Seeing hateful graffiti is a lot different from being fed grooming narratives tied in with topics they care about (like gaming or movies). The ppl putting this shit on YT are not random idiots scribbling graffiti. They know social engineering.
