Well, when I was in 6th grade Ohio History class, 40 (cough) years ago...the nun teaching it said we became part of the Union in 1803-it was on the test & I got it wrong-the 1st time. She made it very clear after that & it’s burned in my brain! 😂 but now I have the facts-Thanks!

The exact day was debated for decades. In 1953, Congress settled the argument by declaring the day March 1, 1803, which was the first day the Ohio General Assembly met.
