Thanks for writing this. The biggest takeaway for me, and also what concerns me most about branding a tournament as “women’s”, is that separate but equal is not the goal. What do you think about creating tournaments with a 50% men/50% women requirement per team? Maybe the goals described in the article could still be achieved while removing the appearance of segregation.

This would be another great alternative format to try! We have been encouraging co-Ed intramurals in colleges as a way to test this out. But we wouldn’t recommend it as a requirement for the main tournament events.
