I am a firm believer that there needs to be an outside agency that does surprise sit ins and reviews iep's. I mean we have #Osha, unions, and hundreds of other oversight related committee's but, nothing to protect our most vulnerable? Wt actual f?

And my son has been really lucky in the teacher dept (so far). But without adequate support from DOE/administration, there’s only so much they can do. This however is NOT the experience across the board. Man. I have met many SpecEd staff that absolutely resent the work. Kills me.
It’s not an easy job & the amount of paperwork, meetings, and ongoing assessments make it even more difficult. The shortage of teachers made it so we commuted to 3 schools in a day. Eating lunch in transit & using prep time as IEP meetings didn’t go over..

There would be no reason for the meetings and paperwork if teachers just knew how to teach kids and the curriculum supported the teaching. That's way more than half the issue.
